Virtual worlds are delicate things and they can vanish with hardly a trace. You can archive the software, but a dead world can only tell you so much. It’s just as important to document how people spent their time within it.

I am, personally, aware of colleagues that are contributing to this space. They sacrifice a lot of their free time because they believe in the value that these ‘forgotten’ games bring to others. IMO it is a worthy cause that digital archeologists will be impressed by hundreds of years from now.
