Happy birthday! i’ll replace endlesscomfort for now then, i’ll dm you

dmed winter a notification just in case since winter’s been online

People hate reading, so i'll copy paste the important points from my previous posts here. The budget (0$) was all used up on the previous picture, but if you can help with graphics or advertising to get more people to join thatd be great! # Format Round robin. Each person is playing 2 games, finals might be 3 games # Rules: - Feel free to ~~gentleman~~ gentlecoin to whatever rules you want. But i'd recommend allow 1 undo each, especially if you're both inexperienced. If you're experienced and the person you're playing against is inexperienced, consider giving them more undos. - Best of 1 - in my experience lichess works best if you register, but not required though clearing your cookies will break the game iirc!!! https://lichess.org/ - Both people have to report who won here. Both of you also attempt to report how many moves it took for you to win, might be used for tie breaking. - Dont cheat ex by having a grandmaster computer play for you - Do at least 1 move a day # Gambling: - I'm down to bet an imaginary currency like [!lemmybucks@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmybucks) or cat girls or what have you. 1v1 me sib! --- Would be cool if you upload your match so we can see what happened!

seems like 99% of the toxicity on Lemmy comes from 1% of the people

my experience too

Anarkiddie here, it’s good that you put effort into this post and it’s at least mostly good faith

[Event] Chess rules, format, betting here.

I agree with lisko’s point (above) that some users will not be disciplined, but others will be, but i’m uncertain as to why some are considered the golden children. The problem users ive blocked aren’t disciplined by staff

Blocking the awful people for yourself is even worse because you don’t see the shit anymore, but new people will be confronted to it anyway as soon as they arrive.

Great insight!

very interesting! Media hypes up the doom scenarios but doesn’t cover people like you. You’ve prob done more leftism than all of lemmy.ml combined! Great work!

Where do i buy leftist swag? How do i find it? Preferably don’t say amazon or ebay :p supporting ebay/amazing for this kind of thing is, you know, lol

the algorithm

Lemmy has an algorithm for posts/comments?

Change your device names to like 'join pixelfed'
I was doing some wifi admin stuff and someone joined with a url. I looked up the url and it was a gay porn thing lol.

https://services.mstdn.social/ says [redacted] is up, but i haven't been able to access it and down detector also says it's down. When he's messaged he doesn't reply usually, across multiple platforms When he takes his services offline, he gives 0 heads up, ex when [redacted] was permanently closed it just disappeared overnight and i was using it everyday. In terms of moderation, libertarian of anything goes. He might have official rules that differ from that, but he makes no attempt to recruit sufficient moderators considering how popular some of his services are. mstdn.social, his flag ship service has the best uptime afaik of his services **inb4 stux simp rips me apart - i'm not insulting his person**

How does beehaw intend to enforce it's vision of having users being kind to each other?
downvotes disabled is a good start, but that doesn't inherently prevent the reddit snappiness/sass

Ideas for further federation with Mastodon, Friendica and so on
prob best to reply to OP instead of me xpost; https://lemmy.ml/post/412028 A little disclaimer first: I don't know if this post fits here, but I had this idea related to the Lemmy project and this community seems quite adequate for this. Since Lemmy is using ActivityPub to communicate within its instances, I wondered if it would be possible to extend the aspect of federation with services like Mastodon or Friendica even further as it's given right now. Currently, if you search for an user of Mastodon (as an example), you'll see the profile but non of its contents, because those aren't on a lemmy instance. So my idea was to extend Lemmys federation to follow specific users and debate on their posts in the Lemmy-like style. Even Reddit has a function to put individual users into your respective feed, so I'd be really happy to see this in Lemmy as well. Maybe it would be interesting too if it would be possible to use the feeds of a specific Mastodon/Friendica/... instance as a community to display in the Lemmy feed. What do you think of the idea?

Thanks for disabling the downvote button!
Someone said: > I tried Beehaw, but gave up after seeing that the downvote button is disabled. Great feature. One of my fav thing about normie social media compared to reddit is lack of downvotes. Ex facebook, ig. I bet lack of downvote overtime will cause beehaw to be a much more wholesome instance

Is work actually a bad place to make friends?
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.perthchat.org/post/68517 > Something went pooly with a work friend and It got me thinking. Specifically if I didn't try to hang out with this work friend outside of work, I would still have this work friend as a work friend, rather than it being up in the air if we're going to talk at work anymore. > > People at work arent here to make friends. One coworker is explicitly upfront about this, saying he would never hang out with a coworker. > > My work is quite interesting in the sense that it's a social activity where we're forced to do it at gunpoint (Ex becoming homeless if we don't work). But say you go to a house party, at least in my experience, people are much more interested in meeting/socializing. > > I hang out with one ex coworker. Now that me and her don't work together, it feels like there's less tension between us.
