Even within the framework of SovCit, I do not understand how they expect to get a U.S. government issued passport while declaring themselves non-citizens. Honestly, if I put on my SovCit thinking fez, I could spin the denial of it by the government as a positive. “See the U.S. government didn’t issue me a passport which proves I’m not a citizen!”
This post isn’t even doing the “I’m an American national and not a state citizen” thing, which would at least track with trying to get a Federally issued passport.
Furthermore why would somebody who is declaring themselves a non-citizen even want a U.S. passport. It’s not like citizens of countries have to get documents from all the countries they aren’t citizens of to prove it.
And of course it’s for something scummy like running away from child support payment, which really shows the caliber of person involved.
It’s just good to see that passports - or lack there of - is what prevents these people from coming to my country.
Lucky bastard…
These numpties are in Australia, their stupidity has leaked and infested many parts of the world. I just read today of an Australian attempting to get out of a speeding fine of $180 using SovCit logic and was fined $1800 instead by the magistrate.
Now I’m thankful Australia isn’t apart of the EU… for the sake of all our common wealth.
*crickets*
Shut up, I’m funny.
And of course it’s for something scummy like running away from child support payment, which really shows the caliber of person involved.
I’m struck by how often these sovcits seem to be getting denied passports because they owe child support.
Is it just one or two of these doofuses vomming their idiocy all over Facebook, or maybe the whole sovcit thing is a common last ditch attempt to avoid child support judgements?
I’ve listened to a lot of SovCits on court proceedings. The idea appeals primarily to people who have exhausted all other legitimate options and are either going to lose something like the ability to drive or are being forced to pay money they just don’t have.
This is a Hail Mary ideology where somebody in that situation is being told what they want to hear- which is that they can wriggle out of it, that their debt isn’t really their fault (because The System is fake), and that they are special and smarter than everyone else.
Not all American nationals are American citizens. For example people from American Samoa, are US nationals, but not US citizens, so they need to check the non-citizen box when getting a passport.
That’s fair, and SovCit stuff usually is a contortion of something real. I was thinking about people who live and have always lived in a state who are trying to pull this.
I kind of wonder if he realizes abandoning his citizenship means he’ll become instantly an illegal, having no document authorizing him to stay in the country.
Where would they deport them to?
They become stateless and generally get stuck in a port afaik
Assuming they are American, they can only give up citizenship at a foreign embassy, meaning that they would already be in another country.

you can just expel them from the country, then the only place they can go to is the un
They would need to find an unclaimed island, I guess. Or isn’t Antartica’s status that it doesn’t belong to any country? We could suggest that.
In Shemima Begum’s case, no where. She’s stuck.
What they really need to do is fill out form ID10-T and mail it (certified mail) to Mickey Mouse down at Disney World
Buddy pulled this back in my customer service days. Caller was hot, and being an ass. After we kicked him around a time or two to a “supervisor”, he was told:
“OK. I’m going to elevate this issue. We’re going to code this an ID10T issue. Can you write that down? That’s india, tango, one, zero, tango. Let me get this in the pipeline and you’ll get a call back.”
“You damn well better!”
PEBKAC is better because it’s not as obvious, unless that’s what you are going for
Don’t forget layer 8 issue.
you dumb fuck the law still apply even if you are a foreigner, if a court condemn you to pay something, citizen of the country or not you gotta do it

They believe it!
Using an all 0 zip code sounds like a way to get mail not delivered properly.
Wait…no passport if you owe child support? I hate deadbeat dads as much as the next guy but that’s kind of fucked.
Not really. If you have money for a vacation, you have money to support your kid. When I worked in enforcement, I had a guy really call me and tell me that his fiancee’s parents paid for a honeymoon as a wedding gift so he needed to get a passport when he owed like $7k to his kids’ mom. Surprise surprise, he suddenly had the money when there was something he cared about on the line. I actually had several people manage to find large sums of money when their trips were on the line even though they’d all spent years claiming they couldn’t afford to pay.
It may not be a vacation. It could be death of a family member or work travel. There are all kinds of non-pleasure reasons to need a passport.
Then I guess those people can tell their family that they can’t come because they’ve been blowing off their kids for years, then. The vast majority of payments on my cases were pretty small in the grand scheme of what it costs to raise a child - I’m talking a couple hundred dollars a month or less, usually, so to reach the threshold where you can’t get a passport ($2500), it wasn’t just one missed payment or a couple months of unemployment screwing them over. Most owed waaay more than $2500 by the time they bothered to call me.
That doesn’t mean withholding your passport is wrong if you’re not paying child support. Stop being an asshole and pay for the kids you brought into this world and abandoned.
A passport would also make it easier for someone to just leave the country permanently, and never pay their child support. This seems like a reasonable thing to prevent by denying the passport.
Oh yeah, I honestly agree…fuck a dude taking a vacation when he’s way behind on child support. But at the same time…iono…somehow denying a passport over that feels weird?
Fleeing to another country and not returning would make holding individuals who do owe child support much harder…
I actually knew a guy who did that and goes on my list of “biggest pieces of shit Ive ever known”
Was a bible thumping “christian” who couldnt wait to lecture people. Girlfriend got pregnant, he volunteered to go work at a catholic mission in Africa somewhere before she had the baby. Never came back.
Fair point.
For me, the idea of the opposite feels weird… being able to get a passport when you are delinquent on child support.
It’s not like they are being denied health insurance or food stamps.
So is not pulling gout.
Dude I pull so much gout, overweight kings be kneeling to me.
