A welcome move. I’m glad Labour aren’t sugar coating rolling back the Tories knee jerk populist legislation that trampled over our rights for nothing.

Doctors?? Pay hospital housekeeping staff and nursing staff double before you go for the doctors. I used to work at a hospital and all the nurses and cleaners did the heavy work, then got on the bus after 12 hours. Meanwhile the doctors got on their Teslas and headed to their 3 million dollar home.

I know doctors are important and great, but they’re not the ones I think of as underpaid when I think about the healthcare and hospital industry.

I don’t dispute your point about nurses and housekeeping, but when people talk about underpaid doctors, they’re not talking about the consultants with Teslas, they’re talking about the junior doctors with a mountain of student debt. They may earn more than nurses, but after 7 years of accumulating debt they kind of need it.

Sure, the rich ones whose mummy and daddy paid for it are fine, but becoming a doctor for ordinary people in this country is pretty thankless and rough, so unless we want doctors to just be toffs we do need to offer compensation on the assumption they won’t be rich going in.

Again, not disputing that nurses deserve better too, but there’s no need to disparage other groups to make that point.

The new deal for working people is a joint agenda with the Labour government and it will be transformative for working people. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to change millions of lives for the better, and it must be delivered in full.

Labour party working towards providing a fair negotiating framework is welcome, and a sign that they aren’t looking to be “Labour-in-Name-Only”.
