    It’s cool to see the strategies other animals use to live longer. Whales and naked mole rats have fantastic DNA repair mechanisms, while elephants have multiple copies of a gene that protects them from cancer.

    I can see this becoming a part of gene therapy when that becomes a regular thing.

    There’s likely a reason we don’t live that long. For just one example, imagine if people from the 19th century were still alive. Congress would still be dominated by muti-centenarians. To a significant degree, progress happens one death at a time, and being able to just wait out the old codgers is a significant benefit.

    I believe that a society in which age doesn’t take people would end up being a significantly more violent one.
