    The worst thing is that, in this timeline, antitrust would probably let this happen.

      The Apollo investment may not be all that bad. If anything the $5 billion would give the company some more breathing room.

      Qualcomm buying out Intel would be terrible for competition.

        Intel stock price is quite low, still has a huge upside and Apollo will probably get a board seat at minimum. It looks better for Apollo rather than Intel.

        $5B is not even enough for overrun costs of one of the 4(?) foundries currently being built, and that will be obsolete by the time they’re finished.

        Intel strategy on foundries was not enough to keep them competitive in the last decade or 2. I have seen no sign that this time will be different.
