This is the actual reason. If he just wanted to make money, it wouldn’t make sense to alienate one party like that. None if this is in any way rational. He is just as much driven by his hate as the Orange Baboon.

Good thing he has a trans daughter, multiple major businesses, and one of the largest social media platforms. He seems bang-up for the job.

I hope, if Harris wins, that he is forced to divest from SpaceX due to national security concerns, and that the subsidies on Tesla are abruptly pulled given its lack of innovation for years.

Sadly he’s rich enough that rules like that just don’t apply to him in that way like it would with the rest of us commoners.

he’s already getting contracts and subsidies, I expect it has more to do with regulation like the FCC FEC etc.

I think that even if Trump were to win, Musk would loose. Trump seems to loathe Musk, having publicly humiliated Musk before, and then snubbing Twitter after Musk unbanned him, at least for a while. Secondly, Trump has a habit of not paying bills, which probably translates into not returning favors. Trump’s alliance with Musk will end once Musk is no longer useful, which will be once the election is over.

In fact, Trump winning might be worse for Musk than Harris winning, because the Democrats probably won’t retaliate against him for helping Trump. But Trump, well, for one thing, somebody like Trump might see it as a humiliation that he had to work with Musk. And secondly, electric cars don’t fit into the Republican worldview Trump champions.

Looking at a larger scope, capital tends to screw themselves over by aligning themselves with authoritarians. It’s easier to hold on to power than it is to seize power, and if all you bring to the table is money, then you won’t be needed once power is seized. Because money is something humans made up to facilitate the exchange of resources and labor.

electric cars don’t fit into the Republican worldview Trump champions

I keep remembering about that day in 2020 when before it the WHO and a lot of the press in a lot of the world kept saying that people shouldn’t wear masks before there was no evidence that them worked, and Trump and followers kept insisting that people use masks, even passing designs around. Then an article was published showing they work, and the next day both sides had always have the opposite opinion.

Don’t bet on predicting that kind of thing.
