Just think, if we had nationalized healthcare, it wouldn’t be tied to your employer and they couldn’t cut it off. Maybe unions should start fighting for socialized medicine in the US.
The US even fucks up Canada socialized medicine by enticing our doc and nurses to travel south to work for more money. Hopefully some of these people see these articles and think twice. Fuck the American

"We hope the union considers the impact a prolonged strike is having on our nurses and their families,” Wendy Gottsegen, spokeswoman for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, said Monday
If you were really concerned about the impact, you wouldn’t be cutting off their healthcare. If you were really concerned about your nurses, you’d give them safe staffing ratios, better pay, more time off. When in reality, you’re being deliberately cruel in order to force your employees to continue working in inhumane conditions - a situation that not only deeply affects their quality of life, but also directly affects the quality of healthcare you’re able to provide your customers: you’re deliberately providing a shitty experience to your workers so that you can deliberately provide a shitty experience to your customers. Enshittification, again.
"This hardship, in addition to the loss of wages throughout the strike, is very unfortunate and has been openly communicated to the union and the striking nurses since prior to the walk-out on August 4,” Gottsegen said.
“Is very unfortunate”, she says, as if this is just something that happened randomly, and was not a deliberate choice to try to beat down people who are trying to fight for a better life for themselves and better care for their patients. Stop using language that denies your own responsibility in this.
