In this post I’m going to summarize my incremental games story and will update with the news from my game development. Feel free to ask any questions and give suggestions.
1. Steampunk Idle Spinner
https://airapport.itch.io/steampunk-idle-spinner This is my first incremental game. I started making it in June 2017 as a “small game jam for myself” to refresh my brain when I got stuck with the development of my own civlike strategy game. And I keep updating Steampunk Idle Spinner with new content in 2023.
Game concept: connecting cogwheels and making them spin faster. Unlocking new machines which can be connected as well.
Game contents: 4 ingame worlds with over 50 various mechanisms
2. Engineer Millionaire (Coin Factory Idle)
https://airapport.itch.io/engineer-millionaire Engineer game expands the ideas of Steampunk Idle Spinner and is more focused on factory building. Its development started in November 2017, and it got 3rd place at Big Indie Pitch and 2nd Place at Indie Blast contests.
Game concept: building a factory or an assebmly line and handle resource conversions on a conveyor belts
Game contents: 2 ingame worlds with over 35 various mechanisms
3. Underwater Factory (20 000 Cogs under the Sea)
https://airapport.itch.io/20-000-cogs-under-the-sea I started making it in spring 2018 as a playground for various concepts which were later integrated into Engineer and Steampunk game. Such as easy upgrades, possibility to drag the machines and connect them. And while keeping exploring the steampunk theme, this time I was inspired by Joules Verne’s Captain Nemo adventures.
Game concept: mining for resources on the sea bed, exploring territory and gradually reaching the surface.
Game contents: 1 ingame worlds with over 25 various mechanisms
4. Idle Alchemy Lab (Transmutation)
https://airapport.itch.io/transmutation In summer 2019 I decided to create a linear idle game which will be focused on conversion cycles. In 2022 it got into “Games made in Ukraine” section on Google Play
Game concept: Convert element A to element B with a certain coefficient, then wait till element B self-converts back to element B with a slightly higher coefficient. Repeat. Use produced substances to create a world and populate it.
Game contents: 19 elements, 36 world items
5. Idle Tower Builder (Babel Tower)
https://airapport.itch.io/idle-tower-builder I had a slight pause in game development when I worked for a hypercasual publisher. After this, when I got back to my indie dev in summer 2020, I decided to make a game which will combine more or less linear progress with fancy unlockable facilities types and good prestige mechanics. Thus Idle Tower Builder appeared.
Game concept: You produce bricks, build a tower, and the higher it becomes the more bricks you need. Every floor unlock a facility which makes a certain aspect of tower construction easier. Also you can prestige and restart construction using the bonus of Golden Bricks
Game contents: 31 floors to the victory message, 40 various facilities. Besided the main tower there is a contest mode for this tower
6. Farm and Mine
https://airapport.itch.io/farm-and-mine In April 2021 I participated in a Ludum Dare game jam which theme was “Deeper and Deeper”. Then I’ve got an idea of digging potatoes and carrots, and reaching for coal and ore afterwards. By August 2021 I made it to the game release. It was featured by PocketGamer’s Launchpad. Since then I keep expanding the game and adding new contents to it.
Game concept: You have 3 main resources: money, population and ideas. Money is used for efficiency upgrades, population is used to hire workers who will automate production and ideas unlock new facilities.
Game contents: 48 work facilities, 24 professions, 45 inventions, 6 cats
