Russia’s military successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from its new strategic nuclear submarine, the Imperator Alexander III, the country’s defense ministry said Sunday.

I just checked and… yes, other countries still have their weapons of mass destruction.

Honestly this shit is only surprising to people who think Russia’s illiberalism and antidemocratic reaction is nostalgia for the Soviet Union and not nostalgia for Imperial Russia.

Any time I read they’re doing something like this, the kursk pops into my mind… couldn’t rescue it’s own sub, and couldn’t maintain even trainer torpedoes…but they’re somehow able to create high tech ICBMs… they’re like NK of Europe now. Screaming like a petulant child because no one is taking their tech seriously anymore.

It would feel more dangerous if there was proof. Unfortunately, because it is just Russia, it is more then likely false.

Which I fear is just going to make Russia posturing even more dangerous.

I imagine there are intelligence agencies that know whether it happened or not and if it’s false then that tells them something too.
