As long as whatever influences experienced in games are not influencing actions done in real life that lead harming self or others, I’d argue that you can kill all you want in games.

I know I do and I still don’t kill or harm folks in the real world!

Idk, there is some line there. Like even as a teenager playing gta, i would just plow through people and never thought much of it. On the ps2 (i think) i had a game that i have no idea what it was called, maybe something anarchy blabla. The game was just mowing down people in a mall. Like much crazier that gta, or any game that i played really. It was kinda satisfying in a weird way.
But then there is my friend back then who was always a bit… Odd maybe. He would proudly show me how he kidnapped women in gta and tortured them in game and laughed his ass off as if it was the funniest thing ever. That’s all he ever did in any game that would let him. It was super uncomfortable to watch.

All of them. His whole family was. He had two brothers and one sister and no father. He moved to where i lived, so i have no idea what his childhood before 12 was. His little brother was even more of a psycho, but i spend as little time as possible with that disgusting little shit. They had weird rules when it came to video games. One was: as long as you were playing, you were in charge. You got to play, choose the game and decide if you want to play with someone else. Or in a racing game, let’s say i unlock a bew car, i was the only one who gets to use said car. Weird shit like that. So one day, his brother was playing, and we just hung around until he he stopped for some reason. He was moving around a lot, and i was mainly focused on the screen, but when i turned around, he suddenly sat there in his underwear. Still moving a whole lot. I was like: are you alright there? And his brother who sat next to him started yelling:“what the fuck you little shit, go to the bathroom.” He jammed his thumb into his ass so he didn’t have to shit and keep playing. Their house was already pretty filthy, but i never touched or drank or ate anything there ever again. He didn’t even wash his hands.
He also once burned a big ass tree down while bein on that tree.
When i was in 6th grade, we got a new teacher, she was really young, so much so that on the first day, i thought she was the new one in my class. Anyway, i really liked her as a teacher and as a “friend”. We sometimes went mountain biking together. Even after that year and i was don le with high school i would sometimes visit her after her class was gone. We talked for a bit and she sometimes showed me the tests results of her class. One test was just red, like everything wrong. She said she never had a kid this bad at shool. Nothing could prepare you for someone like that. I read the paper and saw that it was this little shit brother. We got the name and the date wrong as well.

I would argue it’s not for “no reason”. I think the biggest driving force is that it’s a rarity you’re allowed such freedom so when the opportunity actually presents itself it makes sense to take it since it likely won’t be around again anytime soon.

When I play Fallout (3, NV, 4), I am a horrific monster. I will stalk NPCs for quite a while, doing my best to stay hidden. I watch them interact with other NPCs. I follow them to a secluded place, and they are mine. It’s always a melee weapon of some kind. First, I feast. If I have Dine and Dash, I’ll always save it for later. Then, I will strip and dismember the remains. If I’m able to ensare multiple targets in a close proximity, I will make a pile before the dismemberment for others to find. Otherwise, I’ll drag them away where nobody will ever find them. Sometimes, if it’s a really good day, it can be entire settlements.
