I think he was a bit unlucky tbh. He had 3 winning seasons and 1 losing season in Indy (the year Luck retired just before the season started).
Everything really cascaded downwards for him in that final game of 2021 when Carson Wentz melted down and the Colts blew their chance of making the playoffs. It felt like the whole narrative around him changed in that game.

Head Coach contracts and associated guaranteed money are typically offset by any new contracts. Tepper likely isn’t paying Rhule all of his guaranteed NFL HC contract money since he signed a big contract with Nebraska. Not sure who’s paying Frank…but he stands to make $36M from 2023–2026 based on the extension Irsay signed him to before firing him. He may collect from both franchises, but he likely isn’t double dipping.
I mean back to back firings is a pretty obvious sign.
