Sister Sin - Chaos Royale

This isn’t exactly new, but I like it. It’s a Swedish band with opinions. I have honestly not analyzed their texts all that much, so if I’m wrong about them being progressive I’ll remove the post. Bonus: The Baboon Show - Radio Rebelde It’s a bit more towards punk, but definitely progressive.

Edit: fixed link. Edit 2: dammit.

I like the first one more than the second, but id say neither really fit the progmetal genre. First one was more heavy metal, and the other as you said is more punk.

Now… i dont really wanna moderate this place too heavily, you dont have to remove the post but it doesnt really fit what progmetal is for me at least

OK, no problem. Never been very good at telling what genre something belongs to, so you’re probably right. Suppose it’s because I don’t care all that much about genres as long as I like the song. But I do respect that this community is genre bound for a reason, so I will lurk some moar before posting again to get a feel for what’s what.

The term “progressive” is a little weird in this context, based on the progressive rock from the sixties. For me, it means music that doesn’t use the standard song structures, has complex melodies or rhythm, and tends to have longer songs. But it’s a hard to define genre!

Yeah, progressive rock was pretty much was where I came from on that. But a day when you learn something new is never wasted.
