So, as a new Rexxitor (love the new term, BTW), I’m thinking that we need to give back a little bit, considering the additional server costs (which are substantial; I’m an IT admin so trust me the costs are a bit ridiculous!). This is a link to the Patreon account for Lemmy.world. Let’s give back if we can and, hopefully, we can improve performance when posting, reading, etc. It may also help if Lemmy.world could provide a payment alternative where our credit cards don’t get flagged when we try to set up payment via Opencollective or Patreon in the U.S.
Let’s get rid of that little circle when posting…
Thanks for considering!
Let’s get rid of that little circle when posting…
I agree with the sentiment for sure, but this is actually a bug. If you refresh the page, the content does appear. It’s just that for some reason, it keeps the spinning circle for around 30 seconds, even when posted.
At the moment, the cause of it is under investigation. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3061
Lemmy has been around for a moderate chunk of time but the content has recently exploded which is causing some growing pains for not only servers operators but also the code behind it. Bugs that only existed with larger communities are now only being discovered and should be fixed rather quickly.
Thanks for the clarification. I still chose to set up a Patreon for $5.00 a month, because I think that hosting a Lemmy instance is worthwhile. I also think that Rexxitors may want to commit to that because, if the idiots in charge of Reddit had asked for that in the first place, none of this would have happened in the first place IMO… I still encourage those who like what they see at Lemmy to “pay it back”…
I know we didn’t just leave twitter but $8 seems like a more symbolic slap in the face of an evil CEO… 😆
If i’m shelling out that much a month i better get something amazing in return, like a meaningless blue dot next to my name or something
How dare you. You also get the satisfaction and bragging rights of the blue dot. And knowing your supporting the man who gutted the original worthwhile blue dot. How would that not be enough for you?
You can also support Lemmy itself
LATE EDIT: I actually didn’t have any trouble using Patreon in the U.S. this time; must’ve been a temporary issue or something…
I think I’ll contribute too. I always try to support any open source project I use.
