Special counsel Jack Smith has asked the judge overseeing former President Trump’s classified documents case to impose a protective order over the evidence in the case.
Oh like that’s going to stop trump. His lips are the only thing looser than his morals.
I dunno, his grasp on reality isn’t exactly tight. It’ll be fun to see how this plays out, since Trump’s instinctive reaction to being told he can’t do X is to do X.
While it’s entertaining to consider how this might play out, in reality I don’t expect anything to come of it. Sure the judge might issue an order. Obviously Trump will violate it (flagrantly and repeatedly). And nothing will come of it.
Remember when Alex Jones was caught lying on the stand? He flat out lied, and the attorney called him on it (based on the fact that he’d received a copy of Alex’s emails). And the consequence for lying under oath? Bupkis.
While there’s a perception that “judges don’t put up with x” and “the one thing you never want to do in court is y,” the reality is that this doesn’t seem to result in consequences, at least for high profile cases where we could all see it.
