For real though, since I joined Lemmy (last Friday, 4 days into blackout) I probably spend as much daily time here as I spent there before blackout 😅 but I’m enjoying it !

It’s nice to see posts made by real people; this way (using Lemmy), you realize just how much bots’ crap is Reddit made of.

oh man I do not miss scrolling past the thousand word automod essay on every freaking post. I kinda miss sorting by controversial though.

That reminds me of r/shitposting, there used to be a time where you could ruin an entire post and have like more than 50 replies of the autobot alone

Excuse me, does anyone know how to delete someone else’s post? I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

Just kidding, I love it here.

Same here, it took me a while to figure out how Lemmy works, but I think I’m getting it. Honestly I can’t believe I haven’t found out about this before now. Go fediverse!

The first few days were kind of tough; but once I started finding communities I liked, my feed got pretty nice.

Me: I have to spend less time on social media.
Also me: Federation is right thing. Do not leave!

Lemmy is the first platform I’ve come across that I’m actually excited to use in many years. Being federated and not motivated by profits (with all the tracking and selling of personal information that it entails) makes me feel like I’m not the product.

I never thought of myself as addicted to social media, but I got more studying done in two days than I have in two months. It made me realize how much SM consumed my time.

Indeed! This is where reddit goes to die, to paraphrase a great contemporary philosopher (/s/s/s, über/s, in case it’s needed)

I know! Thank God I’m not the only one. I’ve been seeing that community constantly while trying to figure out how to use Lemmy.

I’m still trying to wrap around my mind about how this federated universe works. Like i know that I could access the content of this instance (is this the correct name?) from Mastodon and I did subcribe to a few lemmy instances from there but didn’t manage to read any posts. Plus the thing that in Lemmy i use an account from another instance and I can read and post on everything but not by accessing it directly. It’s kind of counfusing and I think this will be the greatest break to it’s diffusion. Otherwise definitely better than Twitter/Reddit for sure.
