Amtrak Celebrates Completion of New Baltimore Platform Construction - Amtrak Media

Amtrak representatives and stakeholders gathered today with state, local and federal officials for a ribbon cutting to inaugurate a newly constructed boarding platform at Baltimore Penn Station. The new platform is scheduled to begin serving trains this spring. This project is part of Amtrak’s overall redevelopment of Baltimore Penn Station, a $150 million investment to improve customer experience and grow passenger rail.

    This is excellent news! Progress for Acela is always s so piecemeal, with minor improvements in time or reliability, but it is progress.

    Acela has been the only way I travel from Boston to NYC since it opened, but the full length is not as good a tradeoff. Between last several years progress, upcoming train sets, and this, maybe it’s time to reconsider. It’ll be too late to help with this summer’s travel, but the following year I’m doing it!
