Relevantly

Kasparov is chairman of the Human Rights Foundation and chairs its International Council. In 2017, he founded the Renew Democracy Initiative (RDI), an American political organisation promoting and defending liberal democracy in the U.S. and abroad. He serves as chairman of the group. Kasparov is also a security ambassador for the software company Avast.[14]

In 2021, Kasparov promoted a series of 32 NFTs that detailed important moments in his career. The top four sold for more than $11,000.[197][198]

I would say that he’s a LIB trying his best. And I believe I could stand to learn something from somebody who was so outstanding at his craft.

I would not trust Kasparov’s opinions:

    CW: Misogyny

Well, in the past, I have said that there is real chess and women’s chess. Some people don’t like to hear this, but chess does not fit women properly. It’s a fight, you know? A big fight. It’s not for women. Sorry. She’s helpless if she has men’s opposition. I think this is very simple logic. It’s the logic of a fighter, a professional fighter. Women are weaker fighters.

There is also the aspect of creativity in chess. You have to create new ideas. That’s quite difficult, too. Chess is the combination of sport, art and science. In all these fields, you can see men’s superiority. Just compare the sexes in literature, in music or in art. The result is, you know, obvious. Probably the answer is in the genes.

It’s like 80% likely that misogynistic chess players would just stare at the woman’s chest and lose so they have to come up with long winded philosophical screeds about chess and warrior mindset lol

There are no intelligent machines, but he is too like a machine to comprehend it.

Being good at chess makes you qualified at one thing - judging chess.

And listening to some rabid anti-communist because he is good at chess how ai will make the world better is at least three levels of bad info prisms

He’s worse than a lib. He was a product of the Soviet chess machine. Imagine starting something “advancing liberal democracy” after that.

I’m really annoyed because there’s only scant footage of the competition. BBC has HD footage of the event but they only include it as clips for a documentary. You’d think something this groundbreaking would reserve the most expensive and advanced film crew to record it.

I think by time it happened he had done this sort of thing for a couple years and it was the second game of that iteration of Deep Blue. Then some guy did an incredible spin job on the story. Without that title, it was probably hard to care too hard about it.
