Good morning sober family!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

How much is a 6 pack nowadays? $10? $15 for something nicer? Probably not a lot to work with but you could take that money and buy something for a hobby you’re interested in. Video game, cheap meal out, a book you wanted to read, go to a movie, rent/stream a movie and some snacks. Basically treat yourself to something your normally wouldn’t with the money you would spend on beer

There’s a pinned post with some helpful tips. For me reading This Naked Mind was a game changer. I was about 2 weeks in when I read it. At first I drank some NA beers as well (Heineken 0 tastes like the alcohol version!) and it was bizarre tasting what I expected to taste and “getting nothing from it”. I also started to realize how I didn’t really like the taste anyway! So maybe try that for your six new friends today, see how you like it. :)

I have heard good things about Athletic Brewing Company. They made several NA beers (maybe that’s all what they make?). I was already off my NA kick when I heard about them.

You could try making a list of all the negative things alcohol brings into your life and reading through it when you get the urge.

It doesn’t have to be all at once either. You can just kinda add to it as you remember something that happened or a way drinking made you feel. Maybe an opportunity you missed because you were drinking?

Also, I like to drink NA kombucha. That really helps me with my cravings. (Most kombucha on the market now is NA, but a few varieties and/or the type you can make at home isn’t.)
