Frederic Sackrider Remington was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry.

    Any idea why the guy isn’t riding the sled?

      If it’s anything like what we did, it’s to allow the sled to get up to a decent speed before hopping on. If you are in the sled, it’ll be sunk further into the snow, and the dogs have a much much harder time getting going.

      Instead, you run along with them, encourage them to get moving, then when the sled catches up to you, you hop on.

      We had a “sled team” when I was young, and this was how we always did it in winter. (really, we had rescue huskies and trained them to pull for exercise, because they had a lot of energy). The summer bike rig was much easier to get them going on.
