hmm, it’s difficult to say, it depends on what you were expecting from it

i discovered the project when it had just started, all the way back at the end of 2019, and immedeately joined the waiting list; back then the project was presented to be as something like google docs, except open source, based on libp2p with all the accompanying cool features like local sync, offline collaboration etc, which was essentially exactly what i wanted (no more, no less)

but when i finally got onboarded into alpha testing at the beginning of 2021, the project has evolved waaaayy beyond the original vision, and now represented something much more complex, making way more use of unique aspects of ipfs

it’s not a simple what-you-see-is-what-you-get à la google docs/microsoft office text editor, it’s a complex productivity software suite, where different things are represented as objects, which can be related to each other via relations, objects can then be combined into sets, users can create custom objects, relations, sets, templates etc, plus markdown, latex text editing, collaboration etc etc

i was initially very skeptical of their branding as an operating system for the new internet, but now i kind of see where they were coming from (they did later get rid of that branding though)

unfortunately, i had little use for this kind of set of features, and, combined with the fact that their desktop client’s gui was based on the electron framework, i mostly stopped using it

however, i definitely see the kind of appeal anytype might have for people who work in a team, on a complex project or smth like that, it’s just not for me

I must say, this sounds really intriguing. I need to take a closer look at anytype and explore the possibilities of the project for myself. It might be what I am looking for. Thank you for the information.

        np :)

btw, you don’t have to wait a year in order to try it out like i did, go to their telegram channel, there’s an application form pinned, you’ll likely get onboarded within a week or two (this includes a zoom call with the team behind anytype, explaining how their software works :)

That is… really nice of them. I like this approach.
