In some of the music communities I’m in the content creators are already telling their userbase to go follow them on threads. They’re all talking about some kind of beef between Elon and Mark and the possibility of a boxing match… Mark was right to call the people he’s leaching off of fucking idiots.

Thank you for putting to words the nagging feeling I was getting. I see people often talk about the dangers of Facebook knowing everything about you - but I never see anyone give out concrete examples. It’s always very hypothetical.

Which bothers me because I don’t have any of that stuff, I don’t have accounts on those platforms nor have those apps and don’t care or feel a loss on it. But I avoid them mostly because I hate ads and content algorithms in general (because they get repetitive and predictable, too easy to flood your feeds with crap just because a friend sees or shows something), and what they have on offer is boring and uninteresting anyways. That’s a type of “danger” that, while I feel is tangible and demonstrable, others may never notice it and don’t give a shit about, and conversely, the price I pay for it is the opposite of a loss, while others would feel like they’d have nothing to do on a phone anymore and be bored out of their minds.

So yeah even when someone tries to be more concrete, they seem to take a while to get to any pain point as well, like, people tell them about the targeted ads across platforms, and someone actually thank the state of things because they hate seeing car ads and they never do anymore.
