    Dude made one bone-headed assumption and RAN with it.

    nation states, religions, political parties, hobbies, and even fandoms (from sports teams all the way down to furries and otakus) are all cut from the same cloth: social construct.

    And it’s NO WONDER a religion would program its members to react to this information with hostility: this behavior is an act of self-preservation. Religions that don’t try to distinguish themselves from mere hobbies, fandoms, and fads are - surprise! - revealed to be hobbies, fandoms, and fads and subsequently fade away.

    (only to be replaced by some other social construct of the same format because there’s a tribe-shaped hole genetically hardcoded in almost every human psyche that begs to be filled by SOME kind of communal entity)

    there’s no baby in this bathwater. there’s just filthy “violence is the supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived” cold, used, mental gymnastics bathwater. And it absolutely deserves to be dumped.
