Following the announcement of hundreds of job cuts at Belvidere Assembly in Illinois, Stellantis is preparing to carry out more layoffs at Detroit-area auto plants.

The intention is clear: by imposing forced overtime the company can maintain the same level of production while cutting jobs. A worker at Jefferson North Assembly said, “There are a lot of lower seniority people who will be laid off. Everything we are finding out is from social media. We weren’t told anything when we left on shutdown.”
