Taken at Felts Audubon Preserve in Palmetto FL. I’m slowly rebuilding my profile of birds from Reddit.

Serious question, did you actually have / find that picture laying around or is that an AI image? No shade either way, it’s fantastic, I’m just always amazed that someone can find a perfect specific picture no matter where the conversation goes.

I learned about ArtBot 2 weeks ago on this post about free AI generator sites, and I’ve been playing around with it a bit.

This one is AI from ArtBot, and I feel a bit mixed about using it. I come across so many AI pics mixed in with real ones now, and I don’t like having to question what I’m looking at if I’m looking for real things.

I didn’t mind doing things like this pic, which should be obvious that it’s fake. I just want to avoid blurring the lines more myself. There are too many people these days trying to deceive others on all topics, and while I want everyone here to have fun first and foremost, I still want it to be based on all the cool, but real things about these amazing animals.

But the ArtBot itself is cool so far for doing gag photos like this one was, and I want to get better at working the input to get better results. I tried to do the Flammulated Owl from yesterday as Puss in Boots, which turned out to be harder than expected. If you go back to see that, you can see my somewhat meh results after generating 20 images.

It’s a fun way to kill a few minutes of down time and sometimes come away with something funny and learn something new. I think a bad Photoshop would be more funny to me still, because even if it’s bad there was actual effort put into it instead of just feeding a request into a prompt.

Maybe my feelings will change, and I’ll probably continue to play with both methods, but it’s interesting to explore what tools, old and new, are available to us in our attempts to make each other laugh.
