    Did we learn in 1918?

    Nope, they had anti maskers.

They also called it the Spanish flu for the same racist reasons as the China virus/Wuhan flu slurs for covid.

The main reason for calling it the Spannish flu was that Spain had much looser censor and the press could report on it much easier than in other affected countries

So like how Florida man is because of Florida’s open records laws?

A CNN article on the meme also suggested that the breadth of reports of bizarre activities is due to a confluence of factors, including public records laws giving journalists fast and easy access to police reports, the relatively high population of the state, its highly variable weather, and gaps in mental health funding.

Two really good books on the topic from back in the 90s, talking about the potential for an Ebola-like hemmoragic fever outbreak, highly contagious and highly fatal.

The Hot Zone - reads like an adventure novel, or a sensationalistic news story.

Later adapted as a TV show:

The Coming Plague - Same story, but reads like a painstakingly researched NYT article complete with a bunch of notations.

Worth reading both of them back to back. Hot Zone goes super fast, 2-3 hours, tops. Coming Plague is a deeper read.

Arent there a lot of videos out there of experts (hell even Bill Gates) in the last 2 decades talking about not if a pandemic will happen, but a when?
