I definitely agree there was always a reactionary undercurrent to even the better elements of the “New Age” movement, whoever I do think it’s earliest incarnation was coming from a place of cultural disenfranchisement with Cold War society. It’s regressive undercurrent has only come more pronounced with time as the more genuine Leftist elements within it, what existed, died off.
