Families Minister Jenna Sudds said Monday some Ontario daycare centres have pulled out of the federal government’s national early learning and child care program because the province hasn’t stepped up with enough cash.
Asked about some daycares either rejecting or bailing out of the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program, Sudds said it’s a “consequence, unfortunately, of a delay with respect to the province of Ontario coming forward with a sustainable and long-term funding formula for providers.”
Sudds said the province is “responsible for fostering those relationships” so that providers have the money they need to “confidently continue to provide high-quality services.”

That seems like an odd take. Literally any tax or incentivization would be “punishing” those who can’t/don’t use it.
Is providing school funding via taxes punishment for parents who want to homeschool their children?
Is providing any kind of child care/child education funding punishment for childfree people?
Is increases in funding for rural internet or road reconstruction punishment for people who choose to live in cities or don’t drive?

What do you consider treating people equally?
If you think it’s buying wheelchairs for people who can walk, so they’re not penalized for their mobility. you’re not quite there.
Wut?
Wouldn’t that just be giving out money, even if there was no intention of using childcare?
The lack of available childcare is the issue. Even if you wanted to pay a premium, there’s simply nothing available.
