I grew up in the deep south in the 80s and I’m so glad my parents never forced church on me. We would go on Easter when we visited my grandparents but that was pretty much just to placate them. My dad took me to try out “regular church” maybe 3 or 4 times, but when it was clear I had no interest in it it was never really brought up again lol Even my very religious very conservative sister was saying to me the other day how glad she was that our parents taught us to be our own people and think for ourselves!
