The governor and the chief prosecutor of the state’s largest county exchanged harsh criticisms of one another over how they handled the now-dismissed case against a state trooper in the fatal shooting of a Black motorist in 2023.

This was a terrible case all around with multiple bad decisions and a terrible outcome, but even Moriary’s use of force expert said that Londegren didn’t act unreasonably while Cobb’s car was dragging him along. Moriarty subsequently dropped that expert.

My supposition is that there was a better charging option and Moriarty went a step too far and that’s when Walz spoke up. He’s no stranger to calling out bad policing in the past.

Not sure what you mean by that, Walz is a member of Minnesota’s variation of the Democratic Party, the DFL.
