I have had almost no issues with any of the Sonos systems we have. Our office has 4 of them and the only time they act weird is when I try to airplay a video to all of them at once and something weird happens.
Any chance yours was a play 5 Gen. 2? Those are known for having a failing WiFi chip and at least they had an extended service program for them.
