My Warwick strap locks have worn out and snapped off right in the middle of filming a music video…
Which strap locks did you find reliable? Afaik Schaller and Dunlop offer some, but I’ve never seen them in use.
Call me old school, but I just buy a pack of Grolsch beer and take out the rubber gaskets from the bottles. They work pretty well with flared strap buttons. I’ve never had one fail on me, but I’m not throwing my guitars around much when I’m playing.
I find these work great for me. I don’t get too crazy though.
Oh my bandmate uses these, yeah they do their job well enough. I use the same strap for several instruments so something else might be better.
Yeah not the easiest for hot swapping.
If you’re on the market for more, these generic ones are virtually identical in quality for less:

Schaller style straplocks. Get Schallers if you’re feeling fancy but the Harley Benton version is just as good.
I have the Schaller ones and can definitely recommend them. They are strong and built to last. I recommend a dab of loctite on the threads for the strap side to make sure it doesn’t loosen up over time.
This is sort of old but I always make a point to recommend DiMarzio because nobody else seems to. I’ve seen all of the typical straplock designs fail, but I’ve never seen a DiMarzio strap fail. I straight up don’t trust anything else anymore
I use Dunlop strap locks and they work well. I like that the buttons look just like stock and can hold a regular strap if for whatever reason you don’t have a locking one handy.
How did your warwick ones break? Can you share a picture?
It didn’t break “per se”, but the lock slips out of the pin after a minute or two. Guess it’s worn out?
I like the Dunlop ones.
Absolutely love the D’Addario universal strap locks, I have a bunch of them. They’re some of the lowest-profile strap locks on the market, they’re extremely robust, and they look good too. Plus I’ve found they’re very easy to install, and on most my guitars they were compatible with my existing strap button screws. Also, the replacement button still works with a strap without the lock attached if you’re just swapping or trying other straps. Neat!
They seem to be relatively unknown because they aren’t included in many reviews of comparisons even though they’ve been out for a few years. It’s kind of surprising because at least to me, the D’Addario locks seem to take some of the best attributes of other strap locks and improve on them.
