Why would you seek somebody’s advice if you’re not willing to take it? Sure, I get the idea of wanting to be validated, but you also have to accept being told what you’re doing is wrong.

I’ve stopped giving my father advice on computers or electronics because he has never yet followed any of it.

He gets really upset that I won’t spend time researching things to give him advice to ignore, so presumably he gets something out of it but I’m not sure what.

time invested is his love language, time intentionally poorly invested must be love if its not annoying.

Well, it’s just a fabricated story, so it doesn’t need to make sense. The real author may be plus sized and the doctor’s advice may be real, too, but I think there’s a simpler explanation than excess amounts of steroids.

People are dumb as hell. Between working retail and working first line IT support, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had someone ask me a question and then immediately disregard the advice. I got to just expect idiocy when I was asked a technical question at work.

Thankfully I’m in a much better gig where people value my opinion.
