With the Klingon in the SNW episode (I’m behind and haven’t watched season 2 yet) got me thinking about Disco Klingons design. I’m happy they went with the more traditional look for the Klingons again as I wasn’t a fan of the Disco Klingons. But after giving it some thought I think it works well, considering how the Disco Klingons are highly conservative.

My head cannon is the Disco Klingons are part of anicent Klingon conservative culture revival. Like the Sarcophagus ship, the armor represents this push in parts of Klingon society. And T’Kuvma house were the leaders of this conservative revival and apart if this effort was genetic modifications of their bodies and faces to match what T’Kuvma belived ancient klingons looked liked.

I feel this is pretty good explanation for Disco Klingons look. Thoughts?

Yeah, that makes perfect sense, considering T’Kuvma 's whole shtick is “Remain Klingon”. Especially when during ST: Enterprise the Klingons augmented themselves.

My personal fan theory is that the pasty white skin is the effect of allergic reaction of Klingon’s skin to too much tribble exposure. Tribbles offered a way to keep live meat on space ships and perhaps it took years for the skin affliction to manifest. Think of it as that generation’s equivalent of the 1960s where everyone smoked cigarettes and people finally figured out that’s why there was so much lung cancer.

That’s why Klingons exterminated the Tribble homeworld.
