Our tomcat loves rice, enough so that we make a little bit extra every time just for him.

We have another cat that loves bread, preferably freshly baked. It has gotten to the point where we avoid buying bread she doesn’t like.

The other 2 just want meat.

We have brothers, the big one is a popcorn fiend and the other will eat bread if you leave it in his reach, through the bag even. Carrots too, acts like they’re catnip.

I’ve had a carrot cat too! I sliced some up and dehydrated them then sewed them into a toy and she just loved it! The trick I found is to break the pieces inside the toy now and then to release more of the smell (same way catnip works really).

Does your carrot cat also like swimwear that’s been used in a chlorinated pool, but not yet washed? Mine treated that like catnip, too.

They do like towels, specifically damp ones after showering, but the other thing they love is olives, same vocal reaction as catnip.

That’s a really cool idea with the dehydrated carrots!

One of my orange, but non-carrot loving, cat is definitely a fiend for unwashed chlorinated swimwear. Like you mentioned, treats it like catnip (which he also fiends over) he used to really like ice cubes too but eventually seemed to stop caring.

He also loves cheese… Found out parmesean doesn’t give him issues but mozzarella did.

One of our cats loved salady stuff, cucumbers, sweetcorn and bell peppers especially. He was never possessive over food, not even tuna, except for red bell peppers, - the only time we heard him growl at his brother was whenever we gave him a few pieces.

Every day i learn something new that some cat does. Truly the least cat-like thing a cat can do is what i expect them to do.

Are you sure it likes the smell, or is it just enjoying the heat and moisture from the steam?

Argh, the reactions of some isekai protagonists after they finally get rice or some seafood there.

Is Japanese an actual breed or does that just mean the cat was born in Japan?

The latter. The way I understand it, there are every few cat breeds. Just lots of coat patterns.

There are many breeds. Just to make a few, American Shorthair, British Shorthair, Maine Coon, Canadian Sphynx, Abyssinian, Siamese, Scottish Fold, Devon Rex, Persian, Birman, Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest Cat, Bengal, an my personal favorite, whichever cat is closest to me at this time.

Looking at the rice cooler it looks like it has kanji on it so I’m going to assume it was in Japan

    This is unhealthy!

You need to keep your pets away from the food so they don’t ruin it or infect it with germs.

Also keep the cat away from electric devices so they don’t get hurt.

I know that I am in the cats community but just keep your pet safe and your food germ( animal related) free.

If you want to learn more about how to improve your hygiene around your pet, check out the CDC website for recommendations.

I don’t like when cats get on counters in general as there are also hot stovetops, food, and cookware there that they could burn themselves on.
