    Very sad.

Please, get into the habit of seeing your doctor once a year for an annual checkup. No one is too young to get sick.

Mammograms aren’t required yearly until after 45. She may have just started them…

Edit: This is a good time to remind people with breasts that you should be doing self-checks.

And even if she’d been having them regularly, that may not have caught it. My mum was 52, she’d just had her screening, and a month after that she got another scan because of blurred vision, slurring words, and headaches. There was a new shadow, it was brain cancer metastasised from the breast cancer she already got removed, and six months later I was spreading her ashes by the lake.

Edit: Thanks for the kind words ❤️ Also, for anyone who needs to hear it: “people with breasts” includes men, even if it’s rarer, so if you have a family history of breast cancer go get checked regardless of your sex or gender.

In Denmark, the doctor don’t want to give you an annual checkup if you are young (ie younger than 50 something) or you have a reason, for instance symptoms.
