I dunno Yogi. I get that you are cool with jokes about trump and religion, but you immediately came to the defense of “dark humor” mfers. Seems like even you have your sacred cows.

naw man, I’m just fucking with you. I knew what you meant.

Of course I do. I love jokes about everything. If I think it’s funny, I’ll laugh. Trump, white supremacists, women, men, gays, trans, billionaires, the poor, physicists, slaves, whatever.

Context and delivery is important though, because there is a difference between making fun of something and using humor to degrade others. For example, a generic shock humor joke about dead babies is different than a specific person’s dead baby that died in a tragic accident.

              But…which is the funnier one?

The generic shock humor can be funny, the tragedy shouldn’t be.

                generic shock humor joke

How you get dead babies out of a 55 gallon drum?

                A pitchfork.

a specific person’s dead baby that died in a tragic accident

“A dingo ate my baby!” jokes mocking a mother whose baby was eaten by a dingo.

Funny how quickly things turned to “no political violence is okay and joking about it makes you a terrorist” when only weeks before I was hearing and seeing “jokes” about certain politicians and death, assault (of varying kinds…), and all manner of “violent” things.

But suddenly after Ajent Ornj takes a bit of shrapnel, it’s “not okay”

And all the people who “hate Trump” who sit by day after day and say nothing about the other “jokes” because “we expect that from them” but jump in to lecture you about how you’re wrong… Well, are you hypocrites or just cowards? Why is it suddenly “not okay”?

All sides are hypocrites when it comes to political violence. “Political violence is never acceptable” isn’t the guiding principle underpinning any president or legislator’s policy devisions. They only say it after political violence targets a member of their own class.

Having a callous disregard for the problems of other people only until it affects one of YOUR people is conservatism 101. Empathy is not valued in their world, unless it’s for one of their whitelisted types of humans.

I don’t see the issue with people letting the outgroup do stuff that they wouldn’t let the ingroup do. It makes sense that you punish or lecture the ingroup about the negative effects of a behavior and it makes sense to surrender on here to educate the outgroup.

The people who joked about violence but are now against it, those people are funny.

Based on the dark humor groups on Facebook, I am quite confident this is what racists actually believe. Transphobes too.

The poorly educated think dark humor is a joke an acceptable way to joke about ideas they hate.

When a study linking dark humor to intelligence was released, the knuckle draggers clucked and strutted about, thinking their hatred indicated intelligence.

Dark humor is a coping mechanism. You either get it or you don’t. Racists aren’t making jokes, they’re making statements and desperately hoping you like them. They turn into jokes when they fail. Just like when their dad went for milk and cigarettes.

In the show just before these were taken, Omni-Man got in a fight with another hero named The Immortal, where The Immortal went for the eyes and tried to blind him by gouging them out. It definitely hurt him, but it didn’t work, and Omni-Man ripped The Immortal in half shortly afterwards. (He got better.)
