In bad country, you can’t sing and work at the same time or the overseer will reprimand you and you will be made homeless and starve

Companies assume that humans are homo economics and ignore the fact where when people are given deals like this in labs they tend to drag the shithead offering the deal down with them and then refer the experimenters to an ethics committee.

Another asinine part of this whole situation is the fact that you’re surveilled and bossed around by Amazon, despite not technically being their employee.

    wtf

why is there a camera inside the car? that’s insanely creepy. You could get all the information you could possibly need by just following the car on a gps

So that inevitably you have a car accident due to the immense pressure that you’re under to meet delivery deadlines, they can easily wash their hands of you with their easily proffered evidence that the accident was your fault and you aren’t due worker’s comp.

I heard a while ago that Amazon had such high turnover that it wouldn’t be possible to hire more workers who hadn’t previously quit or been fired. anyone know about that? Seems like they still don’t care about running out of workers if they can afford nonsense like this.

Yeah I can’t see how it’s a sustainable model. If you live in the midwest where minimum wage is still $7.25 most people will eat the shit because it might be the only relatively decent paying job they can get, but anywhere with some kind of alternative has an average span of like 3 months, most people quit within the first month or two, with maybe 5-10% of people staying for over a year.

Trying to cut down on distracted driving… By keeping people from talking to themselves… A behavior which is proven time and time again to improve concentration, visual processing, and cognitive performance generally… Hmmmm…

The worst part is this probably isn’t even Amazon policy just some pudding brain middle manager who doesn’t know how the fuck their (awful, invasive) system works and is under pressure to get their “safety” numbers down so they spout their complete lack of understanding as fact.

I checked the thread and someone speculated that it’s doing eyetracking to see if you take your eyes off the road, and your mouth moving throws it off. But that didn’t make sense to me because eye and head movements are needed when driving, and distinguishing between ditractions and checking rearview mirrors seems impossible.

Nobody told me when I was a kid I’d have to behold the future with a rictus grin because otherwise the Machine Gods punish me.

    Hellworld indeed.
