    The Cold Equations

FuUUUuuUkk I found that one on accident at 9 years old digging through my mother’s old sci fi collection looking for a Ray Bradbury book.

I think it was the first moment I actually considered mortality in a personal and universal context. The chilling realization that we will all die, and most of the time it will be pointless and arbitrary and with no narrative or inherent justice.

Still really haven’t gotten over it decades later, and a lot of my worldview has been affected by it, I believe for the better.

Still if had a choice, I’d rather have waited to read that till 16 at least
