The fediverse is still being monitored, though… Everything we comment and post here is freely available to anyone interested for any purpose.

You’re not forced to link your account with your real identity in fedi.

YouTube does depending on the content you upload I had to validate my own documents with Google because a small animation I had posted had made use of copyrighted stuff, and when I went to edit it to remove the copyrighted music, it kept nagging to “validate who I am”

No, it does depend on instance admins for how it is used. Viewing Mona Lisa doesn’t make every tourist its owner.

I um… what? We’re discussing privacy and external monitoring. Ownership is irrelevant. I think you might be crossing discussions, but just look at the OC.

Much of the spying on people is done for monetary gains, which would be illegal if the platform doesn’t sell the rights to the content.

E.G. Reddit sold comment usage rights to OpenAI for $60,000,000 USD.

Phew! I’m so glad you told me that, because we know no company or individual ever did anything illegal. DuPont hasn’t poisoned the whole planet, and OpenAI didn’t admit stealing content is the only way their business model can work.
