I watched Possession(1981) for the first time last night and holy heck was that a mindf*ck of a trip. I had heard great things about it and how it had a cult following but I went in blind otherwise. Loved almost everything about it, very surreal and the film itself contorts to things I can’t even describe by the end - solid 8/10

I also viewed Jacob’s Ladder(1990) last week and that was a wild ride as well!

Anyone have any personal favs or recommendations? I’m not a horror fan by default but just trying to watch some gems I’ve missed during the spooky season 🎃

The Cube movies are some of my favorites of all time. The ending of Cube Zero blows my mind every time.

It’s been about 20+ years since I’ve seen that one but great flick! There wasn’t anything like it at the time it came out.

    Daniel Isn’t Real (2019)

A troubled college freshman, Luke, suffers a violent family trauma. He then resurrects his charismatic childhood imaginary friend Daniel to help him cope, not realizing how dangerous Daniel is.

Some scenes from this movie (Hypnosis session), really messed me up. A very “Eldrich” plot twist.

Oh wow I forgot about this one and was randomly trying to think of it the other day. I remember it being pretty good but also a little meh. Maybe had some better expectations but I can hardly remember the film. Might be worth another revisit. Thanks for the rec

Some of them are definitely more body-horror focused, but his father (David Cronenburg) has some good ones. Crimes of the future comes to mind for a more recent one.

Also infinity pool by Brandon was also worth watching.

Edit: Currently watching “smile” it’s pretty good, would recommend (unless the last 30 mins suck, that’s where I’m currently at).

Haha. Just watched this for the first time this weekend. Great movie. As for psychological horror…when the evil lurks was another I saw recently. Possum, anti Christ, skinamarink, session 9, caveat was good, but I didn’t think it was as psychological as the others.

I’m sure I’ll come up with some more. Maybe I’ll post them later.

Edit: Terrified wasn’t bad (same director as when evil lurks). I didn’t find lake Mungo as scary as others, but worth a watch. The dark and wicked was alright.
