I know this seems like baby numbers for some of y’all. It is baby numbers for some of my coworkers who’ve been doing what I’ve been doing for a lot longer - I’ve somehow managed to not get my two jobs to schedule me on the same day so I haven’t had to work too much on a given day. Everyone else I know does that tho.

I finally have a couple days off. But I have so much pending shit to do during then. I don’t have energy for anything.

Revolution soon pls.

The extra stuff is what really gets me. I’m a big time introvert and homebody so after work I just wanna snuggle with my dog and forget the world. The amount of ‘mangerial’ stuff in our personal lives, on top of work, can feel really suffocating.

Honestly, I get the weekend off every week but even so I’m burned out. Between a 9-5 (that is sometimes a 9-6….), trying to do activism, trying to maintain a relationship, god forbid any other social activity, or recreation…. I feel like I have so little time.

It helps that I’m an introvert so I don’t need that much interaction but still…it does get kinda lonely. The occasional after work hangout or family time is good tho. And I try to get in some reading time or something in between everything else.

It’s probably due to age, but I don’t know how I managed to work all those 10 day weeks or never have two consecutive days off at some jobs.

    I absolutely feel you.

I’ve been working nearly 10 days in a row as well, yet I’m only a part time employee because they can manipulate the schedule so I end a week with 30 hours between Thursday to Saturday then work another 30 hours Sunday to Monday and then it’s like you get two days to try to recover from the overworking they do to our bodies. And it doesn’t really happen because pending shit gets in the way of recovery.

I’ve started just leaving my shifts an hour or so early because the extra money isn’t worth it…my legs had a dull ache in them just from walking around. My shoulders ache, and I’m falling asleep within an hour of getting home and unable to function. All to wake up at 5am and do it again.

It leaves me miserable and angry at everyone around me.

Yep, work to the bone, it your still part-time so you don’t get any benefits. Your schedule sounds absolutely awful. You should look into compression socks if you haven’t yet. They help you if you’re on your feet all day.

    That sucks I’m sorry.

I’ve gotten nearly this with just one job before because I got back-to-back scheduled 6 days (Tues-Sun and Mon-Sat). Knowing how they did scheduling where I worked this was almost definitely a lazy accident by an underpaid faux-“manager” and in my infinite wisdom I didn’t even try to swap shifts or complain, I just thought, “oh yeah I can handle that okay”. It was not fun. Oh and I got a clopen on that Sunday-Monday, as was tradition from said lazy scheduling. Oh, and for ne a clopen meant closing by 2:30 AM and being back by 8 AM. I didn’t even notice until that Sunday…

Anyways just letting you know that I feel your pain even though in my case I was a bit of a silly goose that took way too much nonsense for no reason. I’m sure it’s a constant balancing act with the two jobs.
