I respect Luigi… he saw a problem, put his mind to it and came up with a plan, which he executed very well. It seems like he had thought out everything well in advance, including all of the trolling details. What I don’t get is why, after leaving the state, does it seem that his planning stopped? He could have had a car waiting for him in Altoona and then used it to drive to a national forest somewhere in the south where he could have camped out for a few months, laying low while his trail went cold and he was no longer on the tops of people’s minds. Maybe shave his head and/or grow a beard. Then he could move to a hostel in San Francisco and pick a new target and start the cycle again - or just find a way out of the country and live out his days.

To be clear, I’m not advocating any of this, I’m just not sure why he made the choices he made when the rest of his plan seemed to be so well thought out.

The respect for federal investigators he expresses in the manifesto (even if for all we know it could be a front), indicates to me he wasn’t really afraid of getting caught.

I guess he wasn’t interested in turning himself in nor fleeing particularly hard afterward.

I’m conflicted over whether I’m glad or disappointed at his respect for the feds.

On the one hand, I’m disappointed, because like many many others, I identify with his frustration with fat cat CEOs imposing systems of structural violence against us. I wish that had extended to lack of respect for the state, which also imposes and upholds the same systems, and others.

On the other hand, I’m glad because I still think what he allegedly did is wrong and don’t necessarily want further ideological alignment with that, even if billionaire CEOs have it coming, and even if I think he should go free.

I kinda empathize with that. Not gonna do the cops’ jobs for them, living on the run is hard and stressful, fuck it
