The trams are nice, but one should never visit Blackpool.
Seriously, ranked 3rd from the bottom in the UK for life expectancy.
Living there your whole life, or just passing through??
As soon as you set foot on Blackpudlian soil, you are doomed. But if you don’t touch their soil, you’ll be fine, so just stay on the tram.
Regularly passing through and stayed on a few holidays growing up because family was poor and could only afford caravanning.
It’s a shame but it’s the truth, even the residents would agree.
Visiting is fine as long as you stick to the Pleasure Beach.
What are the reasons for this most likely?
So it’s a number of factors:
-
Generally very poor investment into the North of England, especially the North West after the manufacturing and coal industries died off.
-
The jet age package holidays making flights to Spain and Portugal cheap decimated the tourist industry.
-
Missed opportunity to turn it into a free city for gambling when the UK’s first super casino went to Manchester instead of Blackpool last minute. I do mean last minute, because all the journalists who were in Blackpool for the announcement had to rush down the Motorway to get to Manchester.
-
The double-decker tram looks so damn fancy, I want one.
