I never understood what the conductor was for. I’ve only known them to be someone entertaining to watch while they madly wave a stick around to the music.
They conduct the orchestra… They are organising all of these musicians making sure that they all keep to the same time and come in at the correct times when their parts begin.
When you have so many musicians you need someone to be in control
So a human metronome. Yeah I suppose that makes the wild stick waving make sense
