wtf how? is the battery integrated? mine are literally just a wire sandwiched in foam and plug into a cable in my pantleg that goes to a belt mounted batterry pack. the only way I could see this happening is a battery you stomp on regularly

Must have been. He never turned them on, and they burned him.

According to the lawsuit, the customer had to undergo multiple surgical procedures, including extensive skin grafting, to address his burns. The suit claims he was unable to work after the incident, and his mobility was “severely impaired.” The case was dismissed with prejudice in November.

What? There has to be more to it than that. Was this discovered to be fraud?

I noticed their website is pretty terrible… the insole description is copied and pasted from a jacket page, apparently.

Anyway I had battery powered socks about 20 years ago when I lived in Montana and they were really useless. Great at sucking down D batteries though.

I was born and raised in northern mn. I remember winters when it hit -40. So cold it seemed the world operated on a slightly different set of parameters. Metal became brittle. Liquid fuels became solid. Trees would explode in the night as the sap finally froze. So trust when I say forget the gimmicks, the dodgy heating schemes.

Layers is the way. Wear dress socks under regular socks under big old wollies. Wear a T-shirt under a long sleeve under a collared under a sweatshirt. You catch my drift. Anything beyond the occasional chemical mitten warmer packet thingys is suspect at best.

Damn, that’s scary. We had an ice storm in Ohio some 20 years ago and I remember listening to trees explode all night. We ended up with a pile of brush as big as our two story house! It took years of bonfires to burn it all off.

Vests and gloves may be safer given the lack of stepping on them. (My reasoning is motivated.)
