What kind of apostrophe use is
?!
That’s how I learned to use the posessive pronoun of “it”.
“it’s” always means either “it is” or “it has”.
“its” implies possession.
In general, apostrophe is used for:
Never use apostrophes for regular plurals
(he has so many pencil’s)Unfortunately, the rules for apostrophes in English are made up for each individual word. Lots of native speakers get it wrong, and I don’t know how non-native speakers could possibly keep it all straight.
So… am I wrong?
Yes. It should be “its”.
That I believe is only for plurals, such as:
(one) cat’s paw vs (multiple) cats’ paws
It, however, is not a plural, otherwise it would be “they”. Though I must admit I’ve probably made the same mistake myself.
Possessive it is “its”
It’s = it is
English s weird
Great meme though!
