my friend nicole (14f) has a gf rachel (13f). because she’s never been told she snores, she thinks she doesn’t. however, nicole told me it’s hard for her to sleep because rachel snores.
lately, nicole’s been able to sleep through it and the snoring seems to be quieter (rachel had a cold but she snores w/o cold too) but apparently it’s not normal to snore as an eighth grader?
even if it no longer bothers nicole, should she tell rachel that she snores ?
my other friend said his sister used to snore and she found out it was sleep apnea.
Lemmy.world has an age limit of 18+ btw. It’s Rule #1 on their ToS.
It’s not unheard of for anyone to snore regardless of age. I’d say that if it’s bothering someone or if one of you is really concerned, it’s okay to (nicely) tell her.
It’s super average for an 8th grader (or anyone) to snore. An 8th grader may take it the wrong way, but it’s useful information to have, because snoring can be totally innocuous or it could be totally disrupting their sleep. Someone who snores would do well to see a sleep doc and do a sleep study.
I come from a family of tall, thin people and every single one of us has had sleep apnea since childhood. None of us started treatment until we were adults
Learning about yourself can be hard and humbling, but imho it’s good to know about yourself. I think if she does tell her, she should try to find a tactful way to do so, maybe in a humorous situation, so that it’s less likely to be received badly.
