Quite a few of which are made by queer creators, who were told to stop including even the subtle implication of queer characters, and said okay fuck it we’ll stop being subtle.

That’s how Rebecca Sugar went from not being allowed to say two immortals in Adventure Time used to date five hundred years ago, to creating Steven Universe and tricking Cartoon Network into showing a bunch of nonbinary lesbian rocks singing about their feelings.

That’s how Dana Terrace went from not being allowed to joke about the two cops on Gravity Falls being a couple, to creating The Owl House and representing the fuck out of everything with a flag. Homegirl put a bisexual front-and-center on the Disney Channel.

… huh. I guess ND Stephenson’s never been told “no.” Still, dude went on to remake She-Ra, which is both gay as hell and good as hell. And apparently a big deal for the autistic gremlin community specifically.
