Do you genuinely think the government doesn’t have any trace of whether or not you have changed your gender marker?

Bureaucracy is kind of their whole thing.

Maybe it’s just because I’m in a red state, but I know for a fact my state keeps track of that. I’m probably going to a camp very quickly.

Depends on how the state does it. California amends birth certificate in most cases by leaving the previous version of the document as an addendum to the current… except in cases of gender change. If any person or agency queries the document they see a single page that reflect the updated gender, no history.

(They also do this if your name has a slur in it that you want removed, which is nice)

There was that family in NJ that literally named their kid “Adolph Hitler”, so I gotta figure there may be some parents that have given their kids even worse names that aren’t any sort of Scunthorpe problem.

I changed my marker during Biden. My state made it very easy. It’s a liberal bastion in the NE, and I have an X for NB.

But, yeah, I don’t feel exactly safe. If they made me change my marker, I wouldn’t have much concern psychologically (I’m more gender abolitionist), but I feel like they wouldn’t do much asking and would just rather “remove me” from society or whatever.

It’s not great, but I know some of my trans homies have it much worse. Going through years of HRT, therapy, etc., transitioning, and then finally getting to a marker and identity that aligns with you…only for this group to push you to change it back (or again, potentially worse outcomes).

It may be a time of setbacks and shitty outcomes, but Pandora’s box is largely open. While the trans population is small, a lot of people know a trans person now. Hell, Elon is bitterly related to one.

Even if they killed all LGBTQ people, you can’t eliminate this population like genocide: it’s an idea or identity.(“And ideas are bulletproof” jk) You can’t kill these feelings out of existence forever. Queer people will always exist.
